08 Throwback NASCAR Darlington Gray Gaulding

About the No. 08 Camaro:  The 08 team will look to bounce back this weekend at Darlington Raceway after a broken brake line took them out of contention for a top ten finish late at Road America. Crew Chief Patrick Donahue will select chassis 711 for competition. Gaulding previously raced this chassis at Michigan International Speedway where he finished in the 16th position. This weekend will mark Gaulding’s first career Xfinity Series start at ‘The Lady in Black.’ Despite lack of Xfinity experience, Gaulding has one career Monster Energy Cup Series start at Darlington from 2017 .

Push for the Playoffs:
With only three races remaining until the 2019 playoffs, Gaulding dropped points last weekend at Road America after suffering a broken brake line. It is likely the 08 team will have to win a race to make the playoffs. Gaulding remains in the 13th position in the NASCAR Xfinity Series point standings and trails the 39 of Ryan Sieg by 118 points for the final playoff position.

Throwing It Back:
The 08 team will run a special ‘throwback’ paint scheme this weekend at Darlington Raceway, honoring team owner Bobby Dotter’s 1991 Cling Free Fabric Softener paint scheme. The hot pink race car was first unloaded at Indianapolis Raceway Park in 1991, where Dotter finished in the 11th position.

Gray Gaulding:
“Very excited about driving Bobby’s 1991 throwback scheme at Darlington. Throwback weekend is something I’ve been looking forward to all year long. It’s great for the fans, drivers, and teams. To be able to represent Bobby is a pretty cool moment for me personally. I’m ready to get our car dialed in and put together another solid run. We have still have a shot at the playoffs, so we are gonna keep working to get in. It’s gonna be a fun weekend for sure!”

Bobby Dotter:
“Darlington is always such a special weekend”, says Dotter. “I was very touched last year we were able to honor my father with Spencer. I was surprised again this year. Apparently Gray and Dwayne have been planning this for some time and I think it came out better than we could have imagined. I’m really excited to see this race car on track. I don’t think you’ll be able to miss it!”

TV/Radio: The Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 at Darlington Raceway can be seen live on Saturday, August 31st on NBC. Race coverage will begin at 4:00 p.m. EST, and the event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Radio, channel 90.
